Not enough roasted malt flavor. This is one of the weakest watered down stouts I have ever had. But this is actually a great tasting beer, just should not be considered a stout....maybe a new category named ’Stout Lite’ would be more appropriate. It is difficult to rate this beer, it tastes great but is inaccurately placed in stout category. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 2, 2006 Usual colored body with a HUGE head, good lacing. The head refused to die and it took like 10 minutes before I could drink this. Aroma is bitter roast, chocolate, caramel, and some cocoa. Flavor brings out bitter roast and more of the cocoa flavor. I had 2 complaints about this one. I think it could be better balanced. I also think the cocoa flavor could be better, even though the Dutch make some kick ass cocoa. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 29, 2006 Bottle. Pours very dark with a nice head. The cacoa notes are very intense in the aroma as well as the flavor. There is a very distinct bitterness due to raosted malts and the dark cocoa. The body is ok, it could be abit heavier. On the plus side this Stout drinks well in summer. crizay (1050), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 20, 2006 Pours black, thin tan head. Not really impressed by this one, it has a chocolate flavor but so a lot of stouts, and the finish was pretty damn hoppy. So pretty much roasted barley and dark chocolate then the hops kick in. Not bad. ehhdayton (1115), USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 18, 2006 The aroma of chocolate and roasted coffee immediatley greet the senses. The pour is a brownish black with a short lived tan head. The roastedness of the malts comes through upon the first sip and mellows to a more dark chocolate flavor. On the downside there is a slight wateriness to the finish but overall a pleasent beer. Palidor19 (1791), Brandon, Florida, USA

Would go great with desserts. FezMonkey (268), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 23, 2006 Updated: Jun 29, 2006The aroma has choclate, roasted malt, and some hops. The appearance is dark brown with a small head. The flavor has some chocolate but I detect more coffee than chocolate as well as toasted malt. The palate is average for a stout. Overall I like it but was not as impressed as some of the raters here. Maybe it’s because I had such high hopes after having other great Bison beers.
