Would go great with desserts. FezMonkey (268), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 23, 2006 Updated: Jun 29, 2006The aroma has choclate, roasted malt, and some hops. The appearance is dark brown with a small head. The flavor has some chocolate but I detect more coffee than chocolate as well as toasted malt. The palate is average for a stout. Overall I like it but was not as impressed as some of the raters here. Maybe it’s because I had such high hopes after having other great Bison beers. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 21, 2006 Lots of chocolate and coffee. Pretty smooth and just plain good. I hate hippy organic shit but this is actually pretty good. and cheap too. skoisirius (588), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 20, 2006 12 oz bottle into an English pint glass. Pours a very dark brown with black and amber tones to the body, while leaving a subtle tannish white and amber head that is not too thick. Aroma brings to the nose heavy roasted malt and coffee hints, while also touching on the chocolate. Flavor touches heavily on coffee and roasted malt, then moving into a chocolate roasted malt slide as it goes into the palate and down the throat. The coffee then sticks around for a minute. Extremely roasted. Quite smooth at the same time with medium carbonation. And organic at that! IHCNavistar (93), Orinda, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 18, 2006 Big Bottle. Aroma is of hops, malt, with strong tones of chocolate, most likely from malts. Carbonation is very good for this beer. Taste is equal parts hops and malt, with strong notes of chocolate. Had this a while ago, so I am trying to do this from memery. Had this right before I had Bison’s Gingebread Ale and remember both quite well! Would definitely buy this again. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 18, 2006 Cask sample at the ’06 Real Ale Fest. Dark brown body, thin foamy tan head. Sweet cocoa powder aroma. The aroma suggests a sweet chocolately rich mouthfeel but a sip reveals a thin milk chocolate foundation, coffee roast and a thin caramel sweetness. Decent stuff but not terribly interesting. Kevster (241), Bradenton, Florida, USA

Pours black with and off-white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is chocolate and roasted coffee. Malty rich flavor is chocolate leaving a creamy bitter finish. Well done!
