| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 3, 2005 Pours black with a thin brown head that left minimal lacing. Dark chocolate and coffee aroma with notes of caramel. Tastes so much like a bad coffee. Very bitter tasting with a hint of chocolate in the long bitter dry finish. And that’s basically it - it’s a thin beer with not much complexity. barleyPops (1081), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 12, 2005 12 oz bottle pours black with a short creamy tan head that laces pretty well. Aroma of this is fanstastic.. Rich cocoa, coffee, and some nice hops.. I could sniff this one for a long time. Flavor is nice bitter chocolate, coffee and a dry somewhat bitter hop finish. Palate is smooth and creamy. Feels silky smooth before that dry finish makes me come back for another sip. A nice drinkable stout!! Pretty nice.. Darkover (1317), Columbus, Ohio, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 2, 2005 bottle. pours full black with some brown around the edges and has a small tan head. There’s an appetizing roasty mocha smell. Good thick full coffee character in the flavor also, it really almost seems like a porter. The chocolate is subtle, but adds so much. It’s not blatantly sweet like many other chocolate stouts. Good harmony in the flavors here, not ridiculous in any direction. Very drinkable. tronraner (1939), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 2, 2005 Bottle. Pours an opaque mahogany with a light brown head that, while small, holds to the glass and therefore laces well. There is chocolate in the nose, along with some coffee and roasty malts. The flavor is nuts, chocolate malts, birch bark, very faint earthy hops, and some coffee comes out in the finish. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 28, 2005 Motor oil black with a fairly thin head. Some chocolate in the aroma but not much really going on. Chocolate and coffee flavor as expected but it’s not incredibly rich or notable. Typical chocolate stout. Not enough chocolate to be notable.
