Dark dirt brown color, opaque with a lightly fizzy head that turns on with a swirl and light lacing that dribbles down the glass like a string of druel. Nose of light soy sauce and vanilla beans, some anise, fennel type notes. A bit of alcohol, portish in nature and heavily sweetened latté. Brittle roast & baker’s chocolate, some caramel and molasses. The flavor has a touch of astringency and noticable bitterness from the hops with a mild cocoa & roasted barley note towards the end. Definately some cola notes towards the end here as ontario102 so eloquantly put. The body seems a bit lacking at first but grows in volume the more you drink. The dry bitterness & astringency overpower the expected dessert image. The final tail of this has a bit more caramel & chocolate malt notes and it actually improves greatly as it passes through drinking temp to room temp.

Lovely, roasted mocha nose; moderate body, very roasted and somewhat burnt black patent flavor and associated bitterness, nice maltiness and bitter roasted and hop balance with maybe a tad of astringency; definite cocoa assersion; some cola and brown sugar notes; damn good

Poured a dark black with a smaller brownish head. Aromas and tastes of roasted malts and cocoa. Light coffee in the taste. The body was a little on the thin and watery side.

Finally a brewery nailed the chocolate stout! I wonder, is this the same beer that has been reviewed? My label was different and it was organic. Regardless, great chocolate flavor, nice balance of malt and roast and a clean bitterness. Better than the Sam Chocolate bock and less than half the price!

(Bottle) Pours a black body with a spare light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and raosted malts. Flavor of chocolate and coffee. Bitter and too thin of body for a stout.
