| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 16, 2008 You can certainly smell the cocoa from the onset... and not much else. Opaque appearance, not even a hint of light through this stuff. Flavor is all cocoa, not very stout to be called a stout. Palate is slightly lively, but nothing to call home about, which sums up this beer. boFNjackson (1302), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Tap @ Green Dragon... Poured black with a thin, brown head. Aroma was nutty with chocolate. Flavors were really different from the aroma. Very bitter and strong sense of alcohol notes. Was also chalky and you can taste the bitter dark chocolate. Maybe molasses in the finish. Taste like they made a stout and put a bunch of cocoa from the cupboard in the bottle. Not that good at all. bb (2919), Martinez, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 22, 2008 Bottle. Dark, almost black beer with a light tan head. Chocolate aroma with light roast/coffee. Roasty, chocolate, malt flavor with backing hops. Medium-plus bodied. Lingering roast, some chocolate, and malt. More hops than expected for a chocolate stout. BelgianBeerGal (1293), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 14, 2008 Bottled. Fine stout. Pours a very dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma and flavour dominated by roasted malt and bitter, unsweetened chocolate. VERY easy drinking. BigBeer45 (695), Troy, Michigan, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 7, 2008 Pours black and is brown ruby at the edges, has a small to medium tan bubbled head, left some tanned lacing, nose is predominately chocolate and milk chocolate, roasted malt and licorice, flavor of roasted malt with chocolate and coffee influences, some sweetness, easy to drink or gulp, some bitterness at the finish from hops and roasted malt, this is dry and leaves some roast malt flavor at the finish, I got a medium mouth feel and some creaminess on the palate, a good Chocolate Stout.
