boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Nov 3, 2009 Bottle... Poured deep brown with a thick, khaki head. Aroma of malts, candy sugars, and loads of spices and gingerbread cookie undertones. Not a bad spiced beer. Bready and biscuity. Low, roasted qualities and overall very sweet and lots of grains and oat flavors. The gingerbread spices weren’t dominant, but shined in the finish. neepsntatties (281), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 29, 2009 Colour... dark brown with a thick off white head. Nose...redolent of ginger. Palate... delicate CO2, tangy, lightly spicy except for the lingering ginger. bsjay (54), Oregon, USA Oct 27, 2009 Heftier than you’d expect for an "ale", this has the coffee/choco/ginger /roasty thang going for it and is perfect for those in search of a distinctive warmer. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Aug 29, 2009 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized light brown colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a transparent typically carbonated dark brown colored body. The aroma was malty spicy ginger and nutty. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a medium strong ginger start and medium ginger aftertaste. The flavor was all ginger. I could not get past that fact. Not one that I would likely buy again as the ginger was just too overpowering for my tastes. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Jul 26, 2009 22 oz bottle from Bier Stein on the cheap. Pours a much darker brown than I anticipated with a hefty tan head. Aroma is hefty gingerbread with chocolate and a slight metallic note. Flavor to me is honestly more chocolate than gingerbread, though the ginger comes through and is actually quite pleasant on a hot day like today. Bit thin though, but better than I expected. doublebock (196), USA Jun 27, 2009 Dark black color with minimal tan head. Molasses aroma. Large ginger taste tha blends nicely with what feels like a porter. Hint of citrus at end. jeff789 (359), Pennsylvania, USA Apr 6, 2009 Deep brown with an okay head... Aroma of Roast, ginger, and chocolate... Flavor of a gingerbread man, ideally not meant to be drank for a good reason, interesting, but very odd... Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Feb 1, 2009 Pours deep amber with full lumpy bumpy tan head. I can smell the gingerbread cookie aroma from an arms length away. Very nice. Without even tasting it yet it may be the best Bison brew I can remember having. I get inviting gingerbread, cherries and a touch of roasted malt in the aroma upon closer inspection. The taste is similar with gingerbread mixing with cherry compote and sweet grape jam. Near midway I get a moment of roasted malts before the gingerbread notes return in force and take the experience to closure. Very nice winter brew.
