Aroma was spicy with notes of ginger and alot of coffee. Flavor was spicy and very malty. This was rather thin and uneventful. DYCSoccer17 (2191), Davis, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 1, 2007 22 ounce bottle purchased from the Davis Food Co-Op. Aroma is really complex. Spicy ginger, leather, anise, roasted malts. I like. Moderately transparent cola-colored body with a medium tan head and scant lacing. Lightly metallic flavoring to start before it becomes quite roasty and chocolatey and burnt in the middle. Just a small amount of spicy ginger flavor in the finish. Not much in the way of hops. A bit thin, but I like what they did with this. bhensonb (4271), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 29, 2007 Bomber from the COOP in Davis, CA. Well, to me, it smells like a stout laced with ginger. The color is nearly opaque brown, and the tan head ringed rapidly. Thin to medium body with creamy carbonation. The flavor is ginger and darkly toasted malts. Guinness on steroids (no, just ginger). Somehow this does not suggest Blandford Fly. It is suggestive of chewy (not the walking carpet), and it is very lightly sweet. Not much bitter, but the lack is made up by the toasted (nie burnt) malt. The finish is just a bit sweet, but that’s ok because the ginger balances. Hop? Who knows. This has got to be one of the best S/H/V brews I can recall. Having said that, and taken another sip, the long lost aroma (from the 50’s) of linoleum paste comes to mind. That may not be a bad thing. As a child I was into sniffing car exhaust, linoleum paste, and probably other things. Ale is better. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 22, 2007 Smell like fresh gingerbread cookies. The color was medium brown color with full tan head. The taste was just like the aroma with nice roasted malt and clove notes. Not bad but I couldn’t drink more than 1 of these at any given time. Headbanger (1587), Aurora, Illinois, USA

Taste of a gingerbread cookie with some cinnamon and chocolate and coffee. Nice tasting porter. kp (8399), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

amber, gingerbread cookie aroma, light sweet malt flavor with light ginger and cinamon spices that fades as you get used to it, a cross between a normal beer and a spiced ale

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 25, 2007 From a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Almost no head and no lacing. Dark brown color. Thick, almost chewy texture. Very smooth drinking beer, just not a lot of flavors. The bottle said brewed with ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon, but none of these were detectable. To be honest I don’t know how old this beer was or exactly how it was stored, which could have influenced my experience Suttree (2722), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 22, 2007 Smells great - I’d say gingerbread, but I might’ve already had that in my head because its called, y’know, gingerbread ale. But i like it regardless. Flavor is similiar, with notes of nutmeg and cinnamon, too. Seems very wintery.
