Nose is completely gingerbread with a cup of Joe on the side. Flavor is really nice. I am not a porter person but this was real nice. Continued gingerbread notes with light coffee and maybe a sprinkling of some dark cocoa powder. Added sweetness reduces almost all of the bitterness and makes for an incredibly smooth experience. Recommended. bu11zeye (5564), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 4, 2007 (Bottle) Pours a dark mahogany body with a medium beige head. Aroma of gingerbread, and nutmeg. Flavor of toasted malt, gingerbread, and some cocoa. Better than I expected. Saarlander (1579), Rancho Cucamonga, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 27, 2007 Decent flavor to this one, some caramel, Nutmeg, roasted malt, bread, but more flavor on the aftertaste, actually abit watery on the palate, but drinkable. ok Angeloregon (2025), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 26, 2007 Big ginger nose but a bit flat on the ginger palate. Nutty, roasty caramelly flavor. Nice appearance--efficacious off white head. Tasted like gingersnap cookies. Slightly sweet and medicinal in flavor.
Bison sure is inventive but this beer was a little disappointing overall. Still, worth a try. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 13, 2007 Pours a dark brown with a pretty thick, fluffy tan head. Smells of nutmeg, ginger, spices, and a hint of ketchup. The taste is very nutty and roasty. A lot of burnt dark malts and light chocolate in the aftertaste. Finish is a little bitter. Slight coffee in the aftertaste. Definitely an easy drinking holiday beer. I couldnt drink this all the time, but it does have some nice gingerbread qualities that are nice at times. elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 13, 2007 Pours a opaque dark brown with 2 finger head. Lots of gingerbread flavor, with hints of different spices. A lot of malt, finishes really nice with a gingerbread flavor left in your mouth. BBB63 (4238), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 5, 2007 Bottle and served in my Nut Brown pint glass: A nice walnut brown hue topped by a large fluffy tan head and left a blanket of lace on the glassware. The aroma has notes of ginger and some nutmeg, light grassy and floral hops, and some dusty yeast esters. The taste is dominated by the ginger leaving little room for other flavors to shine. A further investigation found notes of caramel and biscuity malt along with a dash of nutmeg and nutty undertones. The mouth feel is smooth and twangy. An okay niche brew, good for the holidays and colder winter nights. Not something I would want in the summer. rmussman (905), California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 3, 2007 great holiday brew. Aroma is full of spices like cinnamon. Appearance is very very dark brown. Mouthfeel is a crisp but has a lasting aftertaste thats a little odd. Flavor is nice but I would like for it to be a little more full bodied.
