Commercial Description:
Before brewing our classic summer ale, we went to the certified organic farmer’s market to go shopping. The fresh basil is from Watanabe Farms in West Sacramento and the Honey is from Britt’s Honey, two California artisanal producers. This brew is subtle and refreshing.

lightly hazy gold, modest quickly receeding white head, nicely lacy. nose has a sting of spice, a trace of honey and some maltiness. the flavor gets muddy, with no particular characteristic standing out. medium bodied, perfumey finish. another hard to swallow organinc beer. luckily i only have a single bottle.

Golden pour with small white head. Basil and honey in the aroma with hints of malt. Flavor of honey and malts, very light and drinkable.

The aroma is very unique for a beer. It has basil, honey, malt, and yeast. The appearance is golden tan with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall this is very special.

Bottle. Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet with a honey aroma with a subtle basil undertone. Flavor is sweet with honey and notes of malts and a bit of citrus on the finish. Not much basil present on the tongue.

bottle Pours light copper, white head. Aroma had more basil notes than the honey. Some herbal notes/spices that come sout as real present. Flavor, on this side, the honey was more present compared to the basil. Herbal and malty. Crisp, honey sweet finish with light caramel and thin citrus bitterness.

Bottle from Pat’s Liquors in Porter, Indiana: This poured a clear copper/amber body with a smallish off-white head. The aroma was honey sweet, cut by a spiciness that I couldn’t honestly peg as basil. Same with the flavor, although it was more complex with its spiciness and had a stronger, sweet malt presencce. I finally picked up on the basil in the dry finish. Okay.

I wouldn’t have said basil on the nose, more like rosemary, but I guess I’d be wrong. Mild clover honey. Clear bronze, lively carbonation. Clean and sweet, tempered with the herb. Kind of a one-two punch, not crazy complex, but very complimentary flavors.
