bsjay (54), Oregon, USA Oct 16, 2009 I remember drinking these and the ESB (which is not on ratebeer for some reason) when Bison had a functioning pub. The beer world was smaller then, and I don’t know if they’d hold up, but I have fond memories. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Oct 15, 2009 Bottle. Rich amber beer with an off-white head. Grapefruit aroma. Grapefruit, light pine, and light caramel flavor. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Grapefruit, pine, and a light earthiness lingers. brewski519 (395), Morrisville, North Carolina, USA Oct 4, 2009 Sampled at the World Beer Festival in Durham NC - pours a hazy amber color with a white head. Aroma is light citrus, pine, honey and floral. Taste is hops, spice, floral and citrus fruit. Fairly light to medium IPA - not a bad introduction to this brewer. areyouinning (72), North Carolina, USA Sep 9, 2009 Somewhat cloudy apricot/orange with very light lacing. Balanced, hoppy aroma with sweet notes. Refreshing, clean mouthfeel with grassy hop flavor and mildly bitter aftertaste. boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 31, 2009 Bottle... Poured clear orange with a thick white head, kept a mild lacing. Honey sweet, and earthy, floral hops on the nose. Pretty balanced, a lot of malt mostly resembling an English or an East Coast IPA. Hops provide flavor, but no real aggressive bitterness to the beer. A little bit of a soapy, cracker-malt finish. Rynoplasty (500), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Aug 29, 2009 Pours hazy amber brown with a small whitish head. Aroma is caramel, dark fruits, citrus, and old bottle of IPA aroma. Flavor is citrusy grapefruit and pine, with some caramel and dark fruit. Not bad considering how long it has been sitting on the shelf. scrizzz (1252), kirkland, Washington, USA Aug 21, 2009 A bit oxidized on the nose, has become a bit cardboard. Earthy hops creep through. Clear brilliant amber, small sticky white head. Light pine notes and wet grass from the hops and they have fallen away some. Mostly this beer is malt driven, hazelnut, caramel and toasted sunflower seeds. arventresca (334), Greenville, North Carolina, USA Aug 18, 2009 Copper with white head. Smell of fuits. Taste of fruits with a nice balance of hops. Not overly hoppy like some IPA’s that one may incounter. Good beer.
