The aroma is earthy with some slight hints of caramel malt and bitterness. The taste is dry, earthy, and only slightly bitter. I really don’t see how this qualifies as an IPA. bubbleflubber (895), Collinsville, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 2, 2006 Pours deep caramel brown into the glass with a diminishing head and some decent lacing. Definitive caramel/toffee nose with a hint of astringency. Quite sweet upfront flavor, having missed the grapefruit/citrus boat completely. There is a unilateral hopped mid-palate and finish. It has a very tiny slice of pine, but it’s so subtle that it’s implied. It peppers the mouth well, but lacks a lot of complexities (in the body) indicative of a truly great IPA. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 1, 2006 22 OZ bottle from Bev mo La Mesa. Pours a burnt orange color with a light off white head. Nice hopp aroma, I think it needs just a bit more malt.....it would be perfect. rayg1 (438), Ft. Mill, South Carolina, USA

Aroma is hoppy and citrius. Tastes of sweetness from citrius, pine and bitterness from hops. Good one. realale420 (399), west covina, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 25, 2006 12oz bottle pours clear orange with a nice rocky off white head. Aroma of mostly sweet malts and no hops. Flavor is bitter right off the bat with a big hoppy finish and small alcohol warmth. Surprised to taste that much hops in the beer after not being able to smell any in the aroma. Overall a decent IPA that has a good balance of malt and hop, but would be better if it had a bigger nose. papajohn (1055), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 21, 2006 On tap@O’Brien’s: Hazy golden orange color with a medium offwhite head. Light fruity aroma with orange and pineapple. Flavor starts sweet and fruity (apricot, citrus) followed by a sharp grassy bitterness and a dry orange zest finish. Medium bodied and smooth with medium carbonation. Crit (2405), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 7, 2006 Translucent copper orange in color with a skittish saliva spackle and a bubbly white wrung continuously fed from the bubbling body below. Aroma is ready to roll. Honey, green melon, nectar enhanced spearmint, cotton blossom, baked pine needles, mulled apricots and some red hot cinnamon. Flavor is unique, for sure. Canola oil on spruce. Applewood and peppery toffee cubes. Orange-caramel sweetness wraps around the tongue while puce grapefruit and mango juice urge the citric elements forward. Bitterness is a cottony post sip persuader, and its zesty synchrony is well received. Though balanced fairly well, it’s the interpretation of flavor that shakes things up a bit. Dry, enzymatic finish is laden with glossy and piney oranges, a touch of toffee and mild grapefruit rind shavings. A decent surprise.
