Nose of ripe fruit and a good rich mouthfeel. Flavor of caramel malts and raisins, and a long and mild bitter finish. Nice and easy drinking, and hides the high alcohol content well. Pours a ruby-brown with minimal off-white head. Aroma was sweet-sour fruit. Flavor was obvious raisin and malt with a note of sourness upfront that quicky dissapears. Had medium body with medium carbonation. GG (1665), NorCal, California, USA

I had found this one several months ago at BevMo (I think) and had been waiting a few months to try it. I quite enjoyed this beer, and have rarely been disappointed by Bison. The beer pours out a brownish/red body, with a small off-white head. Aroma is decidedly sweet, with a dark fruity maltiness being quite pronounced. Some earthyness and spices also round out the aroma. Flavors had a cinnanom-raisin thing going on, with light touches of vanilla, burnt sugar and yeast. Pretty tasty stuff! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 18, 2008 22 ounce bottle purchased at Nugget in Woodland, CA. Bottle says 2006 Brewer’s Reserve. This particular Nugget is known for selling old beer, so it appears as though this has been aged a year. Please take that into consideration. Sweet, vinous, raisiny aroma with some mild leather hints. Lots of pitted fruits and raisins with a bit of sticky malt aroma. The aroma is pretty nice, to say the least. Mild to moderately hazy garnet amber colored body with a small, quickly dissipating off white head. Head is really lacking. Chewy, leathery, roasty malty flavors. Some molasses and lots of raisin is present. A little sticky with a bit of caramel and some chocolate is in there as well. Alcohol is amazingly well hidden. A tad thin, but this is very drinkable and I am glad I got to try this. Well-done and impressive. gotohelunc (476), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA

Lovely dark fruit scents. Hits the tongue with plum, malts, and only a bit of raisins. Finishes sweet, a little sticky, quite nice. Warms the body, while still being a good, refreshing spring beer. Good stuff. ratman197 (3256), Arvada, Colorado, USA

Aromas of toffee, carmel, spice and light cocoa. Palate was medium bodied and crisp. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 24, 2008 Bomber from Whole Foods. 2006 Brewer’s Reserve. Pours a very dark amber/ruby color. Dark fruity aroma dominates. Some sugary sweetness along with a little hint of yeast as well. Smooth, yet bitter dark fruit flavors. Some roasted maltiness. A little bit of alcohol. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 17, 2008 Appearance: Pours a dark brownish-red body with a small off-white head.
Smell: Aroma of malts, spice, fruity berries, and a splash of ethanol.
Taste: Sweetish, spiced maltiness. Raisiny fruitiness, a touch of yeast, an odd hint of wood, and more alcohol come together to create a muddled, dry finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: No thanks.
