Commercial Description:
Our Winter Warmer is a classic dubbel-style ale that warms body and soul through the chill of Winter and Fall. We enjoy the chewy, malty flavors mingling with a slight fruitiness and raisin character but aromas and flavors will continue to evolve. Our bottle-conditioning leaves some sediment, so store cool, then decant by slowly pouring into two wide mouth glaass to enjoy with a friend. Ale brewed with raisins.

Bottle. Ruby/mahogony beer with a light tan head. Yeasty, dark malt aroma. Malty, yeasty, slight fig/raisin flavor with backing dark malts and some breadiness. Medium body. Lingering caramel malt, yeast, and breadiness.

Brown, tan head.Nose of raisins, brown sugar but slightly astringent.Dark malts and fruits, medium alcohol heat actually detracts from flavor instead of enhancing it. Not a great effort

I think I might be copying Cornfield unintentionally by rating the exact same beers as him but hopefully the ratings will be different enough to be unique (or do I want them to be similar?). Bomber from Sams near GI Clyborn. Mahogony with small off white head 3. Alc and dark fruit aroma 7 that was matched in the flavor with sweet malt as well 7. Alc burn, med appropiate body 3. Not bad, actually nice 14. --------&# from the blind "Better Know a Style: Abbey Dubbel" tasting. Hazy dark brown with red, small (almost nonexistent) beige head 3. Aroma of alc and some dark malt, all very light 4. Alc, banana flavor, super sweet, vegetable not too great 3. Thin to medium body, numbing carb 3. Very unappealing and worse so far, so much banana and alc 6. Though I have a feeling that this bottle wasn’t the freshest it could have been.

This has a dark mahogany body with a slender beige head that soon redeuces to a halo. The aroma is sweet with raisins, malt, and brown sugar. The raisins seems a bit burnt in the flavor and the alcohol makes its presence known. A nice warming ale.

Notes of figs and raisins with a noticeable candy sugar character. Clean and somewhat overly subdued palate with a soft dark fruit character and mild underattenuation. Clean soft finish.

This Abbey Dubbel pours a deep reddish copper color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity, malty, sweet, chocolate and rum, with a touch of raisins. A medium bodied dubbel. Malts are caramel, dark fruit and raisins. Sweet and smooth. There is only a touch of hops noticeable. A touch sweet and fruity. This is a very nice beer. Another in a line of nice beers from Bison lately, kind of a return to the old days for these guys. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Bomber, 2006 Brewer’s Reserve. Poured a slightly hazy deep reddish-brown with a short beige head (receded to a thick pool and ring quickly). The aroma was very promising... deep, rich semi-sweet chocolate and raisin notes, somewhat smoked and rum-laced.. dusty toffee as it warms. Really nice! Flavor was on the dry (and mildly astringent) side with dried smoky cocoa, rum-soaked raisins, and mild earthy bitterness... warm spices and booze accents at the finish, especially as it approached room temp. This was quite enjoyable.

From a bomber purchased at Sam’s in Chicago. This poured with a nice dark amber and brown color. The head is khaki with large bubbbles. The aroma has sweet caramel and cherries. Some peanuts are also noted. The taste is rich and roasted with some smoky roasted almonds. There is a hint of cooked cherries that have become very mild. This is a very nice Belgian style beer.
