xnoxhatex (788), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 5, 2007 Updated: Oct 29, 2007 I think I might be copying Cornfield unintentionally by rating the exact same beers as him but hopefully the ratings will be different enough to be unique (or do I want them to be similar?). Bomber from Sams near GI Clyborn. Mahogony with small off white head 3. Alc and dark fruit aroma 7 that was matched in the flavor with sweet malt as well 7. Alc burn, med appropiate body 3. Not bad, actually nice 14. -----------Rerate from the blind "Better Know a Style: Abbey Dubbel" tasting. Hazy dark brown with red, small (almost nonexistent) beige head 3. Aroma of alc and some dark malt, all very light 4. Alc, banana flavor, super sweet, vegetable not too great 3. Thin to medium body, numbing carb 3. Very unappealing and worse so far, so much banana and alc 6. Though I have a feeling that this bottle wasn’t the freshest it could have been.
SoLan (1186), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 1, 2008 Dark amber/ruby with a small, off white head. Rich aroma of dark fruits, sweet and bready malt, and some candi sugar. Same flavors, rich and with a bit of warmth. Full/medium body, balanced. Nice, strong winter brew.
mgumby10 (1624), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA Aug 1, 2008 Pours dark brown, with a small off white head. Smells of sweet dark fruits, grapes, and candy sugar. The flavor is of sweet dark fruits and bitter candy sugar. Grapes, figs, and plums seem to be the most noticeable characters detected in the flsvor. Palatable and easy drinking for 9%, decent masking of the alcohol. Not great, but drinkable. travita (716), Lewisville, Texas, USA Jun 4, 2008 Color is marron with a thin head. Smell is raisans, sweet, and grape. Taste is sweet, malty, and fruits. Medium body. Some chocolate. Ok. ross (1525), charlotte, North Carolina, USA May 24, 2008 2006 Bottle. Pours out a brown color without much of a head. Smell is sweet, spicy, and has some raisins in it. The taste is sweet, and really, like eating a raisin. Over carbonated, too sweet, no balance, pretty much a mess. It reminded me of Ommegang - but only in appearance and mouthfeel. Kind of like if unibroue was to brew Raison d’ Etre and add a turd to the mix. My least favorite beer of the weekend last week. 00cobraR (941), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA May 21, 2008 Bottle 2006. pours out a nice darker brown clor with a medium tan head. aroma was sweet with a bit a raisin. Flavor was the same, but had a somewhat strange finish. This is one of the better beers i have had from this brewer and I want so bad for them to have something better. My search continues
