Commercial Description:
The classic Bitburger - a mature and most agreeable beer - is brewed with the best of ingredients in the same traditional way it has been for many, many years. The result is delicately tart and pleasantly bitter - with a strong hop taste.

Big hop/light skunk nose right before I bring the glass close to my nose, closer up I cannot penetrate the cloud of hops for any malt character at all. As it warms, a bit of grainy corn pops out. Pours a brilliantly clear light gold with a thick creamy white head which dissipates quickly to a foam ring and a foam blob in the middle caused by a stream of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. In flavor, the balance is towards the hop bitterness but not overly so, the malt definitely supports its hoppiness but not in the least bit sweet. In the background is an earthy hard water quality. Finishes very clean with a lingering bitterness that is not harsh. Body is medium light with a moderately high carbonation. Surprisingly no carbonic bite. Feel is clean, but not smooth. No astringency. The aroma of this beer reminds me of the bees my grandfather used to drink when I was much younger, I can now see the appeal!

Took the hoppy thing to an extreme over the years, it’s so lean it lost it’s soul. Very high quality ingredients, though, just took the character right out of it. That is not to say I would decline it in favor of just about any, say, US Pilsner labelled beverage, where the ingredients, let alone the craftsmanship are mostly inferior.

Bottle - pours a very clear straw color with a light white head and lace. Light-to-medium body, crisp hoppy flavor and bitterness. Crisp and clean - OKAY.

Very light colored pilsner. Crisp and clean--good drinking beer for hot summer day. Not much flavor even being a pilsner. However, better than Radeberger and others like it.

[698-20070926] Tap @ The Phoenix (London, GL). Aroma is faint, a little yeasty. Clear, bright light yellow with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Yeasty grain flavour. Bubbly light body. Not bad, a light beer.

Bottle. Pours medium gold color. Little head, no lace. Aroma is very faint with grassy /flowery notes. Taste has a strong malt backbone of caramel and bread. Spicy hops come on strong in the middle with a long lasting bitter finish. Not outstanding but enjoyable overall.

Quite an enjoyable beer has that hoppy nature to it, the usual european qualities. Easy to drink

Can 50 cl. Pours a clear yellow with a medium but fast fading white head. And a yeasty, wheaty aroma. Flavor is wheat, with some caramel, coffee, citrus and bread. Nice medium finish
