Commercial Description:
The classic Bitburger - a mature and most agreeable beer - is brewed with the best of ingredients in the same traditional way it has been for many, many years. The result is delicately tart and pleasantly bitter - with a strong hop taste.

Bottle from Hy-Vee poured into flute - Pours pale gold with a fizzy head that barely even exists; A little malt and maybe a hop? to the nose; A little grass on the initial taste; Same on the aftertaste; medium watery body; Decent carbonation; Tasted like carbonated water with a hop thrown in as an afterthought. Not offensive at all, but also lacking any character or complexity. Wasted a spot in my mix-six for this.

The yeast and/or hops used give off a particularly pungent aroma. Big frothy head of three fingers w/ nice lacing on a light golden carbonated body. Disproportionate flavors of barley malt and hops leaning heavily on the barley malt side for a heavy bitter finish. Quite watery and unfulfilling. This beer could take some getting used to... That is if I dare buy it again.

Clear pale yellow with good carbonation and a fine head. Grassy aroma, light body. Watery flavor with some yeast and malt. Very light and citric aftertast. And some of unpleasure skunky mouthfeel.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect out of this, but I like what I got. I poured it into my Pilsner glass (ironic, I know) and it came out much lighter than I expected. The very airy head dissipated to about an inch and it took a few minutes for it to completely go down. This beer washes down nicely and reminds me of Wursteiner. For $12 a 12 pack, it’s not bad at all.

I enjoyed several drafts of this beer from a mini-keg I purchased with a friend. Pours a rich, clear gold color with an ample white foamy head. The aroma was some slightly fruity malts and hops. The flavor was mostly bitter, with a strong finish. Decent carbonation, a fairly dry beer. A good German beer, but left a sour taste in my mouth after being used to aid cheering for the Ravens in a game they lost.

Bottle: Thin white head on a boring straw color body. Pine hops, tart apple and pear, and cookie noted in the aroma. I found this beer to be very tart at first, pear-ish, with notes of angostru bitters. Followed up with a maltyness that reminded me of sourdough pretzles (including salt...) Then the hops hit, strong enough to make me happy, a good bitter finish to a brew that I had low expectations for.

Beer 47 Summer 2006 trip in Europe. Drank on 7/8/06 at Stuttgart Stadium, celebrating the German Victory over Portugal. This was not good, but it was better then the alternative, Budweiser (not Czech Bud) american bud. It did taste nice on the occassion though.

Pours a very clear golden color, with half an inch of pure white head. At first, I thought the beer was hazy, but that turned out to be the trillions of bubbles in the carbonation. Very fizzy at first. I was surprised by the aroma. A little bit of breadiness. Tastes crisp and clean. When American macrobrews say they are crisp and clean, I think that’s a lie. But this one really is. A little bit sweet (but not adjunct-corn sweet). A little yeasty, a little hoppy. Good mouthfeel from the carbonation. Nice balance. A little bit of sweet lemony aftertaste.
