| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Nov 6, 2006 From the bottle, this one pours a clear pale pale yellow with a lot of carbonation creating a thick bubbly head without much retention. Smells like beer. Not really like a macro, but definitely what a macro-lover would classify as "beer smell". Taste is very light and not too complex--some flower petal and lemony-citrus, lightly bitter at the end and without much of an aftertaste. Really light on the palate. Probably wouldn’t order this at a bar. islay (476), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Nov 6, 2006 Updated: Nov 14, 2006Bottle. Sweet, lemony-fruity, surprisingly strong aroma, like a grape juice or a sweet white wine. Standard pilsner gold appearance; looks like apple juice. Surprisingly bitter taste given the smell; low on malt, high on hops, refreshing. Texture a bit too smooth.
This is a good pilsner. I bought this beer so that I would have a golden lager around for guests who may not have the most well developed palates. I am afraid that they will object that Bitburger is too bitter, but its bitter character, along with the pleasant smell, is exactly what I like about it. This is a very satisfying and drinkable brew, a good choice if you are looking for a moderately priced (I paid $10.99 pre-tax for a 12 pack) pilsner that stands up to multiple tastings, perhaps in the same night. probstk (1037), Nepean, Ontario, Canada

Wet cereal, grain and mash with a little hops in the background. Fairly intense carbonation and med. body. Clean and light. I mildly bitter finish that fades. This is my Dad’s beer and he can keep it. kopestes (164), Braine l’Alleud, Belgium

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Oct 22, 2006 Bottle. Light color, clear, with a modest head that faded quickly. The aroma is predominately malt, with a slight skunk smell. Despite the amber bottle, this beer may not have had a good life before reaching me. Very malty and not too light in the body. A bit fresher, and this beer might have been pretty good. Rune (2812), Tromsø, Norway
