NABA BeerFest 03: A nice pale ale, tons of cascade hops with a nice finish, aroma was not the best however.

The beer after extrication from the brown 22 ounce bottle pours nebulous deep amber to mahogany color with a Bunyanesque creamy light tan head, the lace a thick and glutinous sheet to obscure the glass. Nose is lightly floral, backed up by a nice malt sweetness, quite crisp and clean. The beer starts lightly sweet with a nice malt profile; the top is fair to middling in its feel to the palate. Finish is orthodox in its acidity; the hops are purposeful in their spiciness, the aftertaste quite dry, and a real refresher as its 103 here today.

Appearance: Pours a clear, amber body with a small white head. Smell: Spicy toffee drops with a bit of lemon peel. Taste: Sweet, candied maltiness. A taste of lemon peel sprinkled with spice and table sugar. Mild bitterness that lingers on into the otherwise light finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: C’mon, it’s not that bad, is it? I found it to be a decent little pale ale.

Pours a hazy orange/amber color. Aromas of caramel, citrus. Flavor starts bittersweet citrus with some chocolate notes. Finish is a little metallic with a chocolate like aftertaste.

Nice hoppy roasted malt aroma, copper color with an average off-white head. Flavor up front is that of toasted sweet malt, the finish is a smooth not too bitter hop. Good solid pale from MT.

220z Bottle, 11/03. Pours a brilliant copper with medium, pale head and good lace. Aromas of sweet malts, floral, gym sock. Flavors are initially sweet and bready, hop profile is subdued. Most of the bitterness is just before the finish rounding out at the end. Not a typical NW pale, good though.

Received a 22-oz bomber via trade with kyzr. Pours a semi-clear copper amber colored brew with a thin off-white head that slowly dissipates. Aroma of floral hops, some light caramel malt, and a touch of toffee. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated with flavors of light caramel malt, some floral hops, a touch of spice and some toffee. Finish has a nice balance of floral hop and caramel malt aftertaste. Very little bitterness from the two years of aging.
