Commercial Description:
Lewis and Clark’s 1805-1806 expedition took them past the many creeks that flow into the Bitterroot River each spring, among them Sawtooth Creek. Bitter Root Brewing’s blonde ale is made from the finest pale malt and hops available. The addition of malted rye and wheat give this beer a crisp, dry flavor. It’s a national medal winner, and a year round favorite.

NABA ’05: Musky nose, subtle earthy hops and light wheat notes. The flavor is a bit too sweet for me, maybe a touch more bitterness but overall it’s decent.

Picked up a single 22-oz bomber from the brewery/brewpub in Hamilton, MT. Pours a a clear golden pale yellow colored brew with an average white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma of golden grain malt, a hint of citrus zest and a touch of dry bread. Taste is light to medium bodied, very little carbonation with flavors of golden grain malt, a hint of dry grain, some citrus and some light herbs. Finish is crisp, a little dry with some light bitterness.

Dark golden beer. Light head and lacing. No aroma. Moderately sweet, slightly fruity malty flavour. Mild IPA-like hop finish.

Pale straw yellow. Smells like cheesy feet-- not good. Bland grainy flavour with that gross cheesiness lingering in the background. I must have an off bottle.

The beer disembogues the brown 22 ounce bottle a slightly bemused amber color, the head a prestigious light tan crown to sit upon the body with the lace a silky curtain to obscure the glass. The nose is sweetly malt with a bit of floral spiciness to accentuate the crispness, also a bit of yeast from the Rye and Wheat, a pleasant treat for the schnozzle. Start is lightly sweet with a nice malt profile and the top moderate in its feel to the palate. Finish has a purposeful acidity and the hops spicy in their mild but flavorful bite, the aftertaste is quite dry and a nice refreshing beer.

22 oz bottle, via kyzr. Pours a clear yellow gold body under a foamy small white head that quickly faded to a sickly looking film. The aroma is very light and delicate with a light doughy maltiness, a little wheat, and a touch of DMS. The flavor is very bland and a little grainy with a husky finish. No hops present at all, and finished fairly dry. Mouthfeel is thin, watery, and lacking in any character. Active fizzy prickly carbonation. Does it get much more boring than this? Not by much.

Bottle: Golden with a slight Amber hue, fairly clear, minor sudsy white head, falls quickly, sparce lacing, with little or no carbonation.   Mealy nose, malty, but in the sense of cereal like malts.   Little to no hop profile, which is fine for a Blonde. &Nbsp Quite mealy on the tongue, malty, biscuity, with very a subtle hop presense.   A little on the weak side, moderate body and mouthfeel but nearing the thin side.   Sorta reminds me of a watered down Redhook ESB for some reason.   Not very crisp, or as sharp as I would have thought for a Blonde/Golden.   Overall a bit too thin, and overly mealy, biscuity, and cereal like.
