Deep red-brown. Weird nose, starts out smelling like butterscotch and then immediately jumps over to smelling smoky, no real transition. Very strange. Tastes like grapes with loads of pepper, then gets the quick hit of smokiness. It’s a bit sulfury, kind of like the smell of a match. Does have a nice palate, film coats the mouth nicely.

Poured a reddish amber color with a thin, off white head. Aroma of butterscotch, cherry, strawberries, grapes, and smoke. Taste started sweet, grapes being dominant, light alcohol, and a smokey finish. Interesting, and a nice change.

(labeled as Bitter Root Winter Ale) Clear copper body with beige head. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, grape, butterscotch, light smoke. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel/butterscotch, peach, grape, some grapefruit, earthy, light smoke. Medium-full body, somewhat sticky. Good stuff, nice variety of flavors going on.

Dark brown color. Medium head. Aroma is malty. A medium bodied strong ale. Malts are nutty, fruity and slightly sweet. Hops are mildly spicy. Very smooth. Bottle aging has appeared to improve this beer greatly. There is a nice complexity going on here as well. It’s very smooth, and has a nice sweet molasses, chocolate malty flavor. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
