The "espresso-like bitterness" is a good description for this beer. It leaves a taste of burntness in your mouth as well. Nice dark, black appearance and dark tan head. Nice palate. The taste is almost too much for a whole pint. Very burnt, espresso, bitterness to it. Dickinsonbeer (3494), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA

Aroma is nutty, doughy yeast, caramel, chocolate and light roast. Full flavor- sharp dark caramel- special B sweetness, Toffee, sharp dark chocolates, and some modest coffee roast character in the end. Mildly bitter. bigrond (1049), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 9, 2005 Roasted nose, dark black color, lathery head. Dark roaste malt body with an espresso finish. The roastedness covers the fact that this is thin and weak, really. Still an OK beer. Fun and enjoyable, but rather average. YogiBeera (2437), Hamburg, Germany
