Commercial Description:
During the California Gold Rush, brewers brewed lager beer at warmer temperatures like an ale. Thus the name "Steam Beer". Light amber to copper in color, with a medium bitterness. Smooth and easy drinking.

Thin head of very fine bubbles which reduces to a nice foam. Decent carbonation. Light refreshing aroma with a hint of peaches. Cloudy light orange in color. Soft mouthfeel with more peaches and some hops. Finish is malty, sweet and a little dry. Some bitterness presence as it warms.

Round, full mouthfeel, supermild hops, some toffee, mild aroma of green tree sap. Not fantastic.

07.23.04 tap at brewpub. First off, this is nothing like Anchor Steam, my only frame of reference for the style. Interesting beer. Mellow fruits, citrus, melon, and chewy grain. Light, bright flavor. Super quaffable.

Golden, clear, slight head. Fruity aroma, with some hop notes. Hoppy light flavor, with fresh hops dominating. Very easy drinking.
