Commercial Description:
This dark ebony ale is smooth and rich. We start with a classic English stout and add the essence of ripe red cherries to give this ale a pleasant aroma and flavor. Enjoy this stout with a chocolate dessert.

Pours near pitch black with a short tan head. Almost no bitterness. The cherry flavors were muted here, but there was a nice chocolate flavor from the malt, making this a very drinkable stout. Nice body and very smooth. Was very impressed.

This was a good beer. I had it out of the tap and it poured black/dark red with a somewhat small tan head. The smell was of chocolate and cherries. The taste added coffee to the equation. Normally I don’t like fruity types of beers as they tend to be too sweet but the cherry flavor in this beer was in the form of a nice aftertone. The palate was nice and creamy. Good job August!

I could see why people would love this beer, I just personally wasn’t into it. Too much flavor complexities for me, I just couldnt sit and drink it. Bursting with cherry.

sampled at the brewpub. black in color. Aroma was a bit dirty and muddled but did contain roast, chocolate and some cherry. Taste was chocolate, light to moderately roasty, with some cherry and light caramel. Medium bodied, and smooth overall.

Lasting, solid beige foam of 3cm tops the opaque black pour. Aiming straight for the dessert-loving crowd as an accompaniement for a sweet tooth. Cherry bathing in maraschino bursts from the glass and does not feel superficial. Rather slight, minimalist roastiness nevertheless offers a diplomatic bitterness. A bit fading in mouth, powdery palate, soft carbonation. Not juicy, nor vinous. Alcohol is not perceived at all. While I enjoyed the aroma, I was a bit let down afterwards.

Pint @ brewpub poured black with a light brown head. Aroma is strong - big on lite roasted aroma - what I mean it is full of roast but not heavy roast - faint smoke in the roast, light fruity sour (a la soda pop cherry) and cocoa chocolate. A light bodied stout with a slight seltzer feel. Taste has little fruit flavor, is light on the lite roast. Meshes well together for a very quaffable stout, leaves a lightly sweet aftertaste. Low bitterness.

Thin dense head of creamy foam. Nice lacing. Reduces quickly with almost no carbonation. Very roasty aroma. No cherry to speak of. Not as prominent as before. Dark brown/black in color. Bitter roasted flavor. Kind of gritty. Little bit of dark chocolate and coffee. Still no cherry. Dry and bitter finish that is a little chalky. Could be better.
