rman18 (152), South Amboy, New Jersey, USA Jan 30, 2008 Updated: Jun 17, 2008Rerated - I tried this one again as I was unsure why I had such a different opinion as everyone else and I had a change of mind. Perhaps the first time I had this there was something wrong with it? Either way this is a nice IPA. Not as much hops as I would like. It smells of slight hops and malts with a bit of citrus. Taste is about the same, small alcohol taste.
sheatripper (806), Brooklyn, New York, USA Oct 1, 2007 Draught at the brewpub. Copper colored leaving webby lacing. Aroma of caramel malts with a good infusion of grapefruit and pine hops. Same characteristics in the flavor--firm caramel malt body with deep grapefruit and piney hops. Zesty hop finish. A great "Big IPA." Not quite a double or Imperial in the sense of the term, but a very tasty ultra-hopped IPA product. Dickinsonbeer (2513), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA May 16, 2007 Regular Tap. Pours a nice clear light copper/orangey with a large fluffy off white head, good retention and solid lace. Aroma is nice sharp fruity and pungent citrus, orangy and lightly piney hops- light on the malt- but lightly toasty and some light caramel hints. Good clean hop flavor with some floral, fruity and citrus hops- modest malt profile, but it is skewed towards hops. Bitter but not overly so. Very smooth. Great IPA, not quite a DIPA though. jcwattsrugger (3862), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jul 21, 2006 on tap-pours a big foamy light tan head that laces with copper color. Aroma is citrus hops, secondary medium malt. Taste is citrus hops, balanced nicely with secondary medium malt, alcohol. Not the slick mouthfeel of many 2IPA’s, still powerful. egajdzis (2963), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 13, 2005 Poured an amber color with a medium sized off white head that left beautiful lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, citrus fruits, pine, and light caramel malt aroma. Taste of spices, mint, some pine, and a long dry bitterness. Would have preferred more malts, to back up this hop bomb.
