May 5, 2004 Tap: Everything I expect in a IPA. The aroma was so intense it fused with the flavor, filling my sinus cavities with the three c’s. Judicious malt kept it all in check. A hop-head’s dream.

The color as it set’s in the glass a spectacular golden amber, the head planetary in size, creamy in consistency, bright white in color, after decomposing a satiny sheet of lace forms to seal off the glass. Hop aroma dominates the nose, citrus crisp, sweet malt underpinning, start sweet and malt laden, the top fair to middling in feel to the palate. Finish is prickly in it’s acidity, the hops “POW”, right in the kisser, aftertaste dry and hop spiciness last for a long time, certainly not meant for those not into hops.

Nov 23, 2003 Server called it the "mega" IPA, so I am guessing that this is the backdraft IPA, but could be wrong. Pours a dark amber with nice beige head. Flavor is incredibly hoppy -- of the pine and citrus variety. Well balanced with a nice bitter finish. Almost ties my all-time favorites, but it's not quite as over-the-top as Avery or MacTarnahan's. A very good IPA and in my opinion the best on-site brew in Houston (not that there are many to choose from).

Oct 13, 2003 Nice balance, malty, chewy, and oh so hoppy. Fruity overtones and just a nice mouthfeel. Nice beer

May 6, 2005 [Draft at BJ’s in Boulder Colorado] A hazy dark orange beer with a small white head. The aroma is very flowery and hoppy from extensive use of aroma hops. The flavor is lovely with notes of hops, oil, and grass, leading to a dry end where the mouthwater just dries out.

Dec 12, 2007 Not sure if this is the "Backdraft" that I tasted at Green Dragon in PDX. Very nice, floral Simcoe hops nose and smooth, floral, piquant bitter flavor. Not too bitter, just right. Poured a bright copper-amber-golden with a healthy fluffy white head that died down a bit after a few moments. The brewer here is quite good.
