Shared the night before Darkness Day, October, 2009. I don’t know the gentleman that brought this, but thank you for sharing. High alcohol, in the flavor and the aroma, especially in the aroma. Lots of malt with sugar. Straight forward and not complex, this is a big, sweet beer with lots of alcohol and malt.

Dark brown, very clear and no head. Smells of alcohol, plums and dark fruits, and malt. Quite alcoholic in flavor and a slight medicinal. Also raisans and dates.

Draught @ the Boulder Strong Ale Fest. Copper color. Lovely nose of dark fruit. Big, chewy mouthfeel. Sensational flavors of dark fruits, cherries and red plums. A really tasty effort!

sampled on tap at the 5th Boulder Strong Ale Fest. poured amber with off-white head. nose was very sweet candy sugar, plums, and raisins. flavor was dark fruits but overwhelmed by the candy sugar, just too sweet. alcohol was well hidden though for it being 14%.

a beautiful pour. deep amber with a yellow white and brown head. watching this beer settle into the glass was like having an epiphany, yeah, i said epiphany assholes. aroma, where to start? green raisins, plums, toffee, earthy plowed field, lemons, vinous hot alcojol, pears, lots of pear, a bit of guava, so much to enjoy here and it all works well together with the alcohol only slightly destracting. complex flavors of bsnana, clove, plum, korean pears, u.s. pears, apple, good bread, cherry, the candy sugar sweetness covers the high alcohol content well and the finish is different with every sip: pear, honey, yeast, plums, wow.

BJ’s Boulder Big Belgian Quad–on tap-pours a tan head and ruby red color. Aroma is rock candy, dark fruit, malt. Taste is rock candy, dark fruit, malt. Nice rolling warm alcohol tingle. Sipping, occasional.

Fruity nose, small lingering head, coloured like old garnet. Very malty and chewy, this beer demands attention. Lingering finish, like it doesn’t want to leave. Much alcohol warmth. This beer has power. Don’t drink more than one or two if you’re going to be driving

Pour is clear light brown with a thin tan head...smell is alcoholic and fruity...nice chewy mouthfeel...lots of earth fruits dot some sweetness into the funky yeasty spiciness...impressive!
