fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Oct 7, 2006 Draft at La Mesa restaurant. Golden Amber with not much head. Aromas were roasty nuts and spicy malts. Flavor really stayed true to the aroma, but stronger. Lots of roasty flavors in this beer. Nutty and Malty. Subtle bitterness at the end. Very good for an Alt. Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jan 5, 2006 Draught.
Head is mostly diminishing.
Body is medium amber.
Aroma is lightly malty (caramel), lightly hoppy (flowers, apricot), with a note of bubblegum.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic.
Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation.
Must admit I’m not a fan of this, despite trying it on several different occasions...not a lot of aroma and a rather acidic finish. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA Nov 12, 2005 I had this beer on tap in Boulder. It poured a clear, pretty medium-dark amber without much head. The palate was light-to-medium with lively carbonation. Aromas include hops, cookie, grapefruit, candy sugar and vanilla. The flavor was moderately bitter with an average-length, strongly bitter finish with a slightly sour/tangy note. BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Nov 3, 2005 Draught in Boulder at BJs. Pours copper with an edgy off-white head. Fruity yeast (sweat) and light caramel malt (grain) aroma with bubblegum notes. Sour hoppy malt and yeast, bubblegum flavor. Medium bodied and fizzy palate.
