| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 19, 2007 Pours an almost opaque black that has a dark ruby tint when held up to the light. Nose is malty and sugary and deep. Strong hints of roasted earth. Flavor is sweet and smooth, but carries a bit too much sweetness I think. Overall it is pretty good and carries some good roasted qualities. The sugary aspect kills it a bit though. Feel is thick with low carbonation. Drinkable, yes. A good one to try. screwball (796), Motala, Sweden

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 24, 2007 500mL, no date. Pours a deep brown with a minimal beige head. Holy hell this smells sweet. Sweet grain, toffee, and honey roasted peanuts are in the first few whiffs. There is also some light roasted malts, anise, and a hint of wet paper oxidation in the background. The sweetness carries through on the flavor as well. No surprises on the flavor as it’s the same as the aroma, in pretty much the same amounts. Finishes semidry and lightly ashy. Dunno how this is 9.4%--can’t taste it anywhere. Minimal carbonation with a medium full body. Pretty good overall--I wouldn’t mind having this again, but I don’t think anybody needs to seek it out. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 20, 2007 Classic Polish Porter, awesome! Zywiec is the best but the Black Boss is nice too and very smooth / melow flavoring. badbeer (433), Iowa, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 18, 2007 Pours out very dark brown, almost black. Off-white colored head that leaves small amounts of spotty lacing. In the smell I get molasses, sweet caramel, toffee, a bit of nuttiness, licorice, and just a small amount of roastiness. Taste has much of the same elements as the nose, but has a very nice creamy, yet at the same time soft, roasty finish. Soft carbonation, about medium levels with a luscious full body to back it up. This is 9.4%? I didn’t get an alcohol burn or unpleasant alcohol in any way; this is just a very well made porter that I intend on getting much more of.

pours black with a hint of red when put up to the light, medium size khaki head.
smells is strong, coffee, dark chocolate, tar, and a little bit of peanut britle.
taste is chalky, like hot chocolate mix, thick, espresso, bakers chocolate, very fant on the alcohol for having 9.4%.
overall this brew is good, leaves the mouth dry and with a moca aftertaste. bhensonb (4342), Woodland, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 10, 2007 Aroma of toasted dark malt. Nearly opaque dark brown color with a tan head that is substantial. A bit thin in body. Starts with coffee, followed by toffee. Definite toffee candy sweet. The finish is not dry, and the toffee flavor persists. Interesting, but something of a one note. Not that there might not be hidden complexity, just not obvious to me.
