Nose of brown sugar and alcohol. A little bready with chocolate and grain. Chocolate and brown sugar dominates the flavor, molasses, slightly burnt but overly sweet and doughy. hiphops (280), caldwell, New Jersey, USA

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jul 1, 2007 Wow, at $1.64 this was a bargain, but I must admit I was a little weary in trying this one. A true baltic porter from Eastern Europe, they say, is the last remnant of what true English porters used to be back in the day. While that may, or may not, be the case - this beer may be reason enough why the style died out in the first place. In fact, I’m struck with the vision of a Polish homeless man stumbling around the streets drunk with this in his paper bag. Incredibly over the top cloying sweet and acrid. Obviously no advanced thought went into attempting to create a microbrewed beer with an artisan feel. Just an insane amount of simple sugar dumped into a beer to jack up the alcohol level with no thought given to adjusting the bitterness to compensate. OSLO (829), Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 22, 2007 (Bottle) Very dark red, large tan head, fair amount of lacing, the aroma was unusual--and in my opinion one of the weaker points of the beer. The other downside I couldn’t figure out at first, but I think ksigty has it exactly right, there is a burnt aftertaste that isn’t very nice. I found this to become less of an issue as it warmed though, and so overall it was pretty good. ksigty (107), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Jun 8, 2007 Pours a very dark reddish hue. Almost black. Hints of black cherry and licorice. Quite a potent porter, but not overpowering. Surprisingly sweet. A somewhat burnt aftertaste ruins the moment, but overall, this is a delicious beer. hellbilly (1566), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 1, 2007 One of the best beers I’ve ever had, thus far. Smooth, rich chocolate aroma. Flavor was more sweet goodness. My friend commented that "it tastes like someone poured caramel corn all over beer!". The facet of this porter that separated from other porters that I’ve had was the 9.4%. With such a finely made beer, the alcohol was wonderfully hidden. Wowie zowie is the best way to express my love of this beer. moejuck (1172), Ohio, USA

Black with a thin head. Medium to full palate. Very sweet chocolate flavors up front, but not sugary. Interesting notes of toffee and a huge wave of vanilla hit as this warms. Very interesting flavor. I’m glad I took my time with this, as the flavors really started to come on as more time passed by.
