No real lacing to speak of. Nose is roasty, sweet of molasses, and coffee. Taste is roasted malt, more dark molasses sweetness, coffee, and hints of cocoa. A lingering, sweet finish. Hints of the alcohol can be detected, but this was very smooth and delicious. Tasty, tasty dark beer. Very affordable for a college student and delivers a powerful punch. It is a must-taste beer. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 2, 2007 Translucent cherry black with a tan sawdust concentration on the head. Aroma strikes a chord of black currant, black cherry tootsie rolls, raspberry mochas and figs flayed over burnt rubber. Baltic porter flavor fruition is realized with cocoa nibs and unrefined cocoa powder laying in like talc across the mouth. Milky dryness collects with unsweetened, no-bake brownie tendencies. Warming tonsil flare meets broiled prunes covered in milk chocolate. French silk pie cream gathers for a hint of souring lactic accents. Carbonation pipes up the dry cocoa powder and nibs with pinching power, but stops moments short of reaching a zenith to the point of no return. Roasted barley showcases burnt bitterness at blackout. ekstedt (2431), Göteborg, Sweden
| 1.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 3/5 | 3/20 | Feb 26, 2007 Bottle. Pours very dark brown with a reddish touch. The first impression in the nose reveals an overly sweet aroma with strong hint of figs and raisin. When sipping the first mouth, a cloying, sweet but also salty, and onedimensional raisin malt aroma overwhelms me, making it impossible to finish more than a few sips. Can’t believe this one is given a score of 3.5. JohnnyJ (1312), Carlsbad, California, USA

Pour is dark brown/black with a decent light tan head. Flavor is creamy chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, and notes of dark fruit and caramel. Medium mouthfeel. SoLan (1417), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 18, 2007 Black with brown edges and a small, frothy, tan head. Chocolate milk shake, roasty malt, and subtle dark fruit. Not much depth but very tasty. Smooth, medium body is just right for this one. Very good baltic, a bit underrated. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 13, 2007 Coffee aroma, and nuts. Mocha head. Baltic style but really a blackened lager from this part of the world. Black but not opaque, with a good amount of head. Mollasses and suger, some ageing and tad of wood in the taste. A bit sweet, and very smooth.Worth trying.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 11, 2007 Black/brown, slightly transparent with a limited head, that leaves a nice lace. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and sweet licorice. The flavour is sweetish with brief sweet coffee notes, then more roasted malt, licorice and the sweet coffee returns in the rather long finish. A bit too sweet for me.... 1871
