| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 26, 2006 500 ml bottle, via MrWalker and jjpm74. Pours a very dark brown colored body, almost black, under a large foamy brown head that lasted forever and left intricate lacing. Aroma is roasty and full of caramel with some chalk, coffee, burnt malts, and a touch of alcohol. Flavor is a mix of caramel and burnt malts. Fairly sweet up front, but dries out on the finish. Not much alcohol to speak of which is really quite impressive for a 9.4% beer. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and oily in texture with very fine soft carbonation. Pretty damn good, yet I can imagine what this might have become were it left unfiltered. bierkoning (6043), La Tropica, Netherlands

Bubbly head that leaves a whole lotta lace. Fruity chocolate aroma. Mocha/chocolate and raisin flavor, lots of toasted caramel malt. Creamy and full bodied.
Sweet finish that is a bit fleeting but very nice while it lasts. Very little hint of the 9%+ alcohol. Very very smooth and very straightforward. Very easy drinking. 2 of these and you would be butt-faced. And it is so easy to drink, you could down 2 of them in a heartbeat, highly dangerous and highly tastey, so be careful and be responsible, lol...Man i love a great Porter. This is going to be a new favorite in my cellar! Smooth, smooth, smooth. Over the top hopheads need not apply, as this is for heavy malt lovers only, if you enjoy honey flavored espresso you will love this liquid meal.
