| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 26, 2006 500 ml bottle, via MrWalker and jjpm74. Pours a very dark brown colored body, almost black, under a large foamy brown head that lasted forever and left intricate lacing. Aroma is roasty and full of caramel with some chalk, coffee, burnt malts, and a touch of alcohol. Flavor is a mix of caramel and burnt malts. Fairly sweet up front, but dries out on the finish. Not much alcohol to speak of which is really quite impressive for a 9.4% beer. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and oily in texture with very fine soft carbonation. Pretty damn good, yet I can imagine what this might have become were it left unfiltered. bierkoning (6092), La Tropica, Netherlands

Coffee aroma with a touch of caramel. Just below medium bodied. Roasted malt, coffee, molasses, hints of apple. Likeable but somewhat grainy and sweet. No first class quality. kenb (1100), Oregon, USA

Bubbly head that leaves a whole lotta lace. Fruity chocolate aroma. Mocha/chocolate and raisin flavor, lots of toasted caramel malt. Creamy and full bodied.
Sweet finish that is a bit fleeting but very nice while it lasts. Very little hint of the 9%+ alcohol. Very very smooth and very straightforward. Very easy drinking. 2 of these and you would be butt-faced. And it is so easy to drink, you could down 2 of them in a heartbeat, highly dangerous and highly tastey, so be careful and be responsible, lol...Man i love a great Porter. This is going to be a new favorite in my cellar! Smooth, smooth, smooth. Over the top hopheads need not apply, as this is for heavy malt lovers only, if you enjoy honey flavored espresso you will love this liquid meal. maeib (4766), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England

The aroma is wonderful with lots of licquorice and caramel as well as alcohol and soy sauce. The taste is full and has all the characteristics of the aroma beautifully balanced. Very very drinkable and tasty. Truly delicious and my beer of the Festival. harrisoni (6830), Ashford, Kent, England

Very deep ruby colour with some nice raisins and a bit of caramel. Bit milky. Amazing dark dried fruit in the mouth. Prunes, raisins, currants. Smooth and rather lovely. Some burntness. Rich. Like Christmas cake. Egon (399), Gothenburg, Sweden

Alittle sweet from the alcohol? No strong alcohol taste for being over nine percent abv. Quite heavy. with a strong body. greenhorn1 (462), Mission Viejo, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 21, 2006 Pours a deep mahogany, with a very burnt chocolate aroma and high carbonation. It has the same flavor with lots of coffee aftertaste. A bit too sweet for me, but not a bad beer. Surprisingly, it is hard to notice the high alcohol.
