First rating
Bottle from Swedish "Systembolaget" in July 2005.
Ordered it to my local store for fun, thought it was gonna taste pretty awful. I was in for quite a surprise though, since I really liked this beer! My first thought was "can a porter taste like this?" Very dark/black color. Mix of sweet and a bit alcohol. Well balanced thugh and something I’ll enjoy drinking again. Only "bad" thing is that the label looks very cheap.

Probably one of the last they had before they replaced it with the 7.0% ABV version.
Clear dark deep red color, tan head that is fast dissapearing. Buttery, sweet, alcohol and acidic scent. Buttery, alcohol. metallic and coffee taste. Smooth big mouthfeel, medium well balanced bitterness. Medium to low co2. Slight roasted aftertaste.

A chocolate, coffee roasty aroma. A bit acrid and astringent on the palate, this porter was enjoyable inpart to the mingling of toffee, and caramel, coffee and hops in the mouth. A beautfiul black color, full bodied and sweet. I think I’d buy this again, as it’s pretty easy to find.

Thanks to Steve on this one. This baltic was pretty much unlike any other beer I have had, and there may have been something wrong wiht it, but it was very hard to describe. Pours a nice deep dark brown with amber highlights and a thin head . Aroma has a slight wierd roasted nut character to it, some solvent, rubber, light bandaid and some chocolate malt. Flavor is oily, lightly sweet, more wierd rubber/ roasted nuts and a wierd bitter finish. Finish was a bit harsh but overall just wierd.

Bottle. Poured a dark brown with a red tint to it and a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, lactose and a strong nuttiness to it. I’ll have to take Eric’s word for it about his Grandmother’s Nuts (maybe it was his Grandpa). Tastes of roast, light cocoa, and a lighter nuttiness to it. Thinner body.

Thanks to hopdog. Pours a brown with some red coming through. Small bubbly tan head that did not sustain. Aroma of nuts, chocolate, some wood. Flavor of cocoa, lactose and a light bitterness.

Poured a dark mahogany color with a small, tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of Grandma’s nuts, light phenols, roasted malts, and some chocolate as well. Taste of chocolate, smoked malts, and vanilla beans in the finish.

Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, fully diminishing. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (molasses, cereal, roasted grain), with light notes of prune and alcohol. Flavor is heavily sweet. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Medium to full body, syrupy texture, soft/lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Pleasant but simple aroma, just too darned sweet to drink.
