| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 7, 2009 Black body with light head. Sharp, chocolate caramel aroma and prunes with a giant malty burst. A consistent flavor ensues with a deep maltiness, though only moderate roasty with a predominant Special B accent exuding a prune and sharp caramel flavor. Deep, dark sherry notes eventually push there way through, though the alcohol flavor is incredibly subdued making this wonderously drinkable despite the clobbering ABV%. joebudzjoe (228), Connecticut, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 5, 2009 ½ liter bottle. Dark brown body with a quickly dissipating tan head. Prune, brown sugar, malt and alcohol nose. Wet palate is supplemented with a dry alcohol bite. Raisinettes. Not very smooth and not a very good porter. However, for $4/liter, it provides a quality drunk with a 9.4% ABV. MrPickles (118), Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 26, 2009 So I have to admit, this was recommended to me by a guy at the grocery store that looked like he had already had one too many. “It’s 9.4%, a big 500ml bottle, and only $1.99! If you like porters you can’t go wrong.” You know I am glad that I gave him a listen, because I don’t know if I would have tried it on my own. Now I have tried it a few times. The alcohol really shines through here, making this a good one to wind down the night. All of the traditional porter flavors are here, although this one goes heavy on the sweetness, which is a plus for me. DiabolikDUB (143), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jun 13, 2009 Poured from Bottle into Pint glass.
Pours a dense black that has some slight deep copper edging with a light cocoa colored head that quickly dissolves into a nice layer atop the glass. The aroma has mostly sweet chocolate and is accompanied by some roasted malts. The flavor has more roasted malts, a lot of milk chocolate and a very light bitterness. Its a very light bodied porter with the right amount of carbonation. This is a pretty watery porter that leaves you needing much more flavor and the aroma is a dominated by too much chocolate. madvike (326), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 31, 2009 Bottle - At $1.99 per 500ml bottle, this is quite the value. It’s a nice mahogany pour with a small head. Smells of toffee, with slight bourbon and hint of coffee in the background. Taste is rich malt, bourbon, coffee, lactose. No alcohol present, which is impressive considering 9.4%. Had this near the end of the tasting, and it was a nice capper. vulcanmeister (102), La Grande, Oregon, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 27, 2009 From 500ml bottle, pours dark brown with quickly receeding tan head. The aroma is brown sugar, hazelnuts, and carmel. The flavor didn’t come through as strongly as I expected, with again brown sugar, some nuttiness, and a bit of bitterness. The alcohol kind of crept up on me unawares. Nice long finish echoing chocolate, dried fruit, and light biterness. Rciesla (3700), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 19, 2009 Bottle. Pours a black body with a huge 4 finger creamy tan head. Chocolate malt, soy, hints of minerals, and a hint of licorice. Some light roast y malt character and a light creamy soy chocolate. Good brew.
