Light and sweet malt aroma, with hints of raisins, chocolate, coffee and burnt currant. A light hint of aromatic hop as well. Flavor is overwhelming sweet, with a lightly creamy body and a touch of bitter chocolate and coffee, raisin and burnt currant. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 31, 2005 Very dark brown, minimal head. Aroma is sweet with a lot of molassis and caramel, soy. Tastes is molassis, bitter malts but in good way. Bitter chocolate. Mild earthy, oily finish with roasted malts. Fairly balanced beer, suprisingly. I would like to drink this on a cold winter inght in Poland. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 16, 2005 Poured black and fizzy with tan head, huge and fizzy. Sour nose, followed with sweet malts and dark fruits. Bitter flavor, like burnt coffee that sat for days on the burner. Smoothes out though, and in the beginning, there was too much carbonation. There was a ton of milky creaminess, and a very dry finish. This turned out to be a great Baltic. ThomasE (5178), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 11, 2005 Dark brown colour with a small light brown head. Light roasted malty aroma with hints of a dark fruit sweetness. Bitter flavor with some dried fruit and a faint alcohol note. CaptainCougar (5530), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 6, 2005 Pours a rich, nearly opaque dark brown with a thick, frothy, and well-lacing light tan head. Has a mildly tart and roasty aroma with some dry caramel, but lacking that dark fruity complexity usually found in Baltic porters. Starts sugary and sweet without much complexity or balance for that matter. Sticky caramel and sugary, mild bitterness and chocolate throughout, leading to a slightly warming finish that hides the alcohol fairly well. This seems like it could use a little brewing finesse to give more complexity and less of a sugar-water character. Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 16, 2005 Bottle. Almost black colour with a small baige head. Roasted malty chocolate liquorice aroma and a light roasted raisin chocolate coffee taste. Medium body and a light sweet warming finish. sayravai (3781), Helsinki, Finland
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 14, 2005 (Bottled) Very dark red, almost black color with a small, dark beige head. Malty, wineous, burned and licoricey aroma with dark chocolate, coal and metal hints. Very roasted-malty, salty and licoricey, sweetish, somehow raw flavor. Medium to full-bodied, sweet and roasty palate with a quite high, fizzy carbonation. An enjoyable porter, but lacks body and sophistication. Hides the high ABV remarkably, though.
