Volo – Cask Fest 2009
Appearance: thick hazy look , mid top , light tanned top.
Nose: caramel front with hint of pumpkin spice , berry sweet fruity end.
Flavor/Palate : Mid light bodied, citric hop feel up front . Bitter fruitiness with hint of alcohol dryness. Not bad.

Cask. At Volo Cask Days 2009. Murky deep orange with a huge fluffy/foamy yellowish head. Thick, pungently spicy aroma, redolent of oil-based paint, with thick vaguely vegetal ketone sharpness - interesting, not sure I loved it. The taste - ah, that’s better - huge dry allspice presence with some alcohol, and malt/pumpkin backing - nice. Thick, slightly boozy (yes) mouthfeel, with a long dry pungently spicy linger. Good, not something I would drink a lot of.

[2556-20091031] Cask. odd fruity rind and sweet candy aroma. Murky, dark brown body with a long-lasting foamy off-white head. Bitter fresh tree bark malt flavour has some generic gourd in a long bittersweet finish. Medium-full bitter body. Huge kick at first, really interesting to try.

Volo Cask Days 2009. murky amber pour, small frothy head. Aroma of canned pumpkin pie filling, its as simple as that. Im thinking they made this beer with canned filling. Its a pumpkin ale lacking the big pungent spices you normally get in a pumpkin beer. There is a lack of cloves, and i would say cinnamon, but i really enjoy it. Its just a sweet pumpkin beer, not sharp spiciness, just low key, smooth, and enjoyable.

On cask at Cask Days. Appearance: murky orange with a thick yellow/brown head. Aroma: bitter orange, ever so slight raw pumpkin, apple skins and yeast. Flavour: bitter, malt, nice amount of hops, bitter pumpkin, wood, lovely ’cask’ finish. Also had 4 days later. The flavor has taken a seriously tart & sour characteristic, lovely.

2009-10-31. Murky dark amber brown body with a small frothy beige head. 3+ Spicy, fruity-pumpkin aroma is pleasant. Flavour is similar, spice up front, fruity pumpkin main, fairly bitter the hops grow in the flavour as the glass goes on. Pretty decent, the hopping is an interesting change in a pumpkin beer as many tend to be sweeter with bitterness coming from the spices. Enjoyable. Cask at Volo Cask Days 2009
