Hazy. No head. Virtually flat, super-fine carbonation. Nice chocolately smoky aroma. Taste is of raosted malt, but with hint of oak, especially in aftertaste. Different, but nice. mabel (2612), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Dark brown black body with quick bubbles. Roasted grains and coffee malt flavour with a long sweet aftertaste and wood oak fruitiness throughout. Full body, no carbonation. Heavy on the sweet oak like the Brown but can hold it better.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 16, 2009 2009-08-14.Aroma is mild, mild oak and dark malt, muted roast malt. (6+) Flavour of dark malt, very light roast, mild oak character is better integrated than in the brown ale. (6+) Average palate is light for a stout but good. Decent, less roast than expected from a stout, relatively dry overall impression. Pleasant but the wood becomes cumulative as the glass goes on, which I do not care for. Wooden cask in the brewery sampling area. Sammy (3999), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

A significant woodiness, I believe purposfully done, that adds to interest.A wee roast in aroma. Virtually no head, mildly natural carbonation. Dark colour. Chocolate malt, a bit on the sweet side, drier in the finish.
