| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 16, 2009 Bottle... Poured amberish-red with a white head. Strong malty aroma that was a little off. A little watery and fruity, malt notes with not much of a hop presence a little bit of a caramel toasty finish.. A little bit of cardboard too. asedzie (457), San Francisco, California, USA

Very assertive aroma of carmelized malt, light toast, floral and spicy hops. Flavor is well balanced, mildly sweet, fruity hops. Lingering bitterness and hop freshness on the palate. A very nice sessionable amber. Nebulor (109), , California, USA

Pours a hazy amber color with an apricot hue, minimal white head, and some action.
Has a bit of a sour taste with esters.
Light/medium bodied, watery/resin feel, with soft carbonation.
Not as good as their Blond Ale. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 11, 2008 12-Mar-08 (12-oz bottle: Purchased 09-Feb-08 for $1.79 at Ledger’s Liquors in Berkeley, CA) This amber ale takes the balanced approach to this style, although the specific flavors are only moderately interesting to me. Standard pale ale malts show minimal sweetness and only a touch of caramel flavor, which definitely isn’t the norm in amber ales. Hops are prominently featured from start to finish, offering crisp, moderate bitterness and an earthy, piney flavor. In the nose, again, it’s malty without smelling sweet or caramely, and hops are fresh and earthy. Medium in weight from start to finish, and the hoppy flavor and bitterness contribute crispness on the palate for excellent drinkability. The beer is amber in color and only slightly hazy. An inch of fluffy, off-white head settles to a thin, complete layer. Dense, large patches of lace stick to the glass. brianprentiss (475), Portland, Oregon, USA
