On tap at Bistro BA Fest poured a clear dark brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of coconut, bitter chocolate, light roastiness and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of bitter chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt and light oak with a smooth dry lingering roasty chocolate finish.

On tap at Bistro Barrel Aged Fest. Pours dark brown with a thin beige head and a chocolate aroma. There is an intense chocolate flavor with some coffee and a somewhat bitter finish.

On tap at Toronado. Very deep deep brown, one-finger, tan head. Aroma is all chocolates, roast coffee, roast malts. Huge chocolate flavor, along with the roasted coffee/malts, hint of vanilla. Almost like drinking an alcoholic mocha--which if you like mochas, is a good thing. Nice and tasty!

Tap at The Hopyard. Pretty good! Roasty, chocolatey, smoky and dark. Notes of vanilla, chocolate, and coffee. Finishes clean.

Tap at City Beer in SF. Black color with a cream-colored head - looks good. Chocolate jumps out in the aroma with a little roast also present. Flavor is lots of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and vanilla. Palate is medium, not quite as much there as I’d like. Enjoyable beer overall.

Draft. Blackish beer with an off-white head. Chocolate, caramel, and cocoa aroma. Big chocolate flavor with light coffee and vanilla. Medium bodied. Chocolate and big vanilla flavors linger. Chocolate starts out strong and vanilla takes over. The beer is just screaming to be put into a bourbon barrel.
