~Giant, foamy, rocky white head. Pours 75% foam. Head takes awhile to die down and last at about a 1/2 inch. Cloudy orangish copper color.
~ Citrusy resinous hop flavor. Medium malt backbone that supports hop bitterness.
~Medium bodied with hop derived astringency, medium high carbonation, slight warming, sticky, yet dry. Has a slightly harsh bitter finish.
~The head is too huge! Makes it hard to try and drink it. Overall I did enjoy it.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 23, 2009 Pours a rich orange with a large foamy head that thins out slowly. Aroma has modest fruity hops and a little alcohol. Flavor is floral, hoppy, pretty simple and straightforward. Average mouthfeel, medium density. Overall, good. Aquilo (275), California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 20, 2009 This is a new local beer, so I feel obligated to try it. Pours cloudy amber with a head that looks a bit too fizzy to be real. Not much aroma. I feel that an IPA should grab you by the nose as soon as you open the bottle. Here we have some faint hop smell and a touch of honey sweetness. Flavor is also rather one note. Just grassy hops. Astringent finish. Another boring IPA. dbhanson (3), Cameron Park, Ca, California, USA does not count | 4.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Oct 17, 2009 old time west coast IPA flavor. Reminds me of Grants. Hoppy with an edge, high abv, smoother and more enjoyable with every sip. blubba222 (2), California, USA does not count | 1.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/20 | Oct 8, 2009 I bought this in a variety pack from COSTCO. While I enjoyed the Amber Ale, I was looking forward to the IPA. The head took up half of the glass and never dissipated. I laughed as the beer gushed out of my mouth having sipped from the bottle. After spooning off the foam (1/2 hour after pouring) the beer was OK - wouldn’t buy it again. Their Amber Ale was much better. SamGamgee (1465), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 6, 2009 12oz bottle. Huge gusher upon pouring, with a massive frothy head over a dull, chunky amber body. I swear there is brett in the aroma, with a lot of bright berry fruit esters and some herbal hops. Dry as a bone and bitter. Medicinal aftertaste. Highly carbonated and thin in the mouth Definitely infected, but it seems like a brett infection that sort of makes it interesting and not horrible, just not at all an IPA in the modern sense. Hm... I guess I need to go get another bottle, though I hope this is an isolated problem. hayduke (1664), Eureka, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 24, 2009 From a 12 oz bottle out of a six pack purchased from Market of Choice in Eugene, Oregon this poured a clear rich amber with a nice white head and good lacing. Nose of citrus, floral, and pine hops. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is bitter and of citrus. Long bitter finish. Good IPA. scrizzz (1323), kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 20, 2009 Some hops over a bit of leather in the aroma, brilliant orange gold and a firm tight white head. Orange marmalade, leather and candied sugar with strong carbonation. Floral hop finish started with lavender and finished earthy and peppery. Very structured on the palate.
