hophead75 (1680), Boonton, New Jersey, USA May 20, 2008 Growler shared at Paul’s gathering. Hazy amber in color with a small to medium off white head. Aroma is alot of citrus and floral hops, touches of wet wood and earth. Taste is assertively hoppy with citrus, and floral hops, as well as earth and a nice malt backbone. Finishes with a moderate hop bitterness, lingers nicely. well done. PilsnerPeter (1473), Flushing, New York, USA May 8, 2008 Tap at Brewpub: Cloudy amber pour with a thin tan head. The aroma is very fresh with very mild caramel and doughy/toasted bisquit. The hop character is present in the nose giving a sweet citrus (candied orange) character- simcoe hops I believe. Very creamy body, nice and velvety. Rich flavor, yet it’s crisp and dry. Earthy and fruity upfront. Has some twiggy notes along with ripened citrus fruit resins. The malt presence is soft and perfect, accentuating the dryness of the hops. Toasty earthy, zesty and slightly spicy toward the finish; leaving you wanting another sip. Tastes like they used simcoe hops, which I love. This is a really tasty and dangerously drinkable IPA. Chapel (300), Levittown, New York, USA May 23, 2008 Hazy amber. Aroma is citrus and hoppy like a good IPA should be. There is a note of something (which I think others have called pine) that makes this a very interesting brew. Although at first I though that this might be a rebrand of their wheat IPA, looking back at my rating of that, I can see that this is rather different. mkobes (2038), somewhere, New Jersey, USA Jun 15, 2008 Growler. Deep copper in color with a little white head. Hoppy citrusy aroma. Orange, grapefruit hoppy notes. Sweet malty and hoppy flavor. Caramel notes. Sweet tasting. Light to medium bodied. Finish is bitter. Nice. notalush (2071), Rawn-kawn-kohma, New York, USA May 8, 2008 I’ve got to go along with Peter on this one - this is one fine IPA - really hazy strawberry-colored beer - a nice sweet orange marmalade aroma, with potent, crisp, earthy hops - soft and full in the mouth - sweet orange and cherry is balanced quite nicely with grassy, almost peppery hops - quite lively, but easy to drink because of the soft carbonation and balancing sweetness.
