Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular.
A combination of chocolate malt, crystal malt and roasted barley produce the subtle series of smooth flavours in this dark beer, whilst a balance of dry bitterness and spicy aroma is achieved by a late hop of Goldings.

Gravity, ’08 Merton Summer Festival. Dark brown, tan head. Dark wet swamy soil aroma, cinnamon, chocolate. Burned sugar and rum flavor, a bit of coffee and buckwheat honey. Light body, sweet.

Cask, gravity dispense at Merton Summer Beer Festival July 18th and 19th 2008 V dark brown with off white head. Aroma was all coffee for me not that strong but I got little else. Taste was roasty and coffee, some fruitiness, but if truth be told I thought and had hoped it would be better than this, although in its defence it was quite late on Saturday when I got to sample this and I was tired and just wanted me bed.

Cask conditioned at Merton Summer B.F ’08. Black with cream head. Quite sweet for a Porter, some coffee notes, but an overwhelming flavour of Pontefract Cake. Liquorice and touches of chocolate. It’s ok.

The Green Man, Long Itchington ’08. Blackish with ruby tints and a tan halo. Coffee immediately apparent, smooth milky choc, a hint of peppery fruit. Simple and good. Wish I’d taken more notice, was convinced I’d had it before. BOTF?
