| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 25, 2007 Hazy dark coloured estery ale, topped by a lasting off-white head. Very fruity aroma contain dates and plum nuances. Continual yeast presence takes the shape of cakey bread pudding while the malts possess strong grapey leanings. Almost roasty, certainly very toasty palate. A bit rough in its insistence on burnt bread, but otherwise pleasant and warming. Sigmund (2283), Hafrsfjord, Norway
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 11, 2007 330 ml bottle, bought in Edinburgh. ABV is 7.0%. This is an organic beer. Opaque very dark brown colour, nearly black. Large and lasting creamy tan head. Floaties from the sediment when I pour the last third of the bottle too vigorously. For once I can fully agree with the commercial description on the label: "A strong ale with a wonderfully rich aroma and flavour of fruit cake, treacle and plum." Add that the aroma also has notes of oak and alcohol, and that the very malty flavour also has decent hops in the finish and long aftertaste - and I have pretty much described this brilliant ale. rickgordon (3297), Göteborg, Sweden

Ruby brown colour, brown head. Good toffee-ish malty aroma with notes of chocolate. Excellently malty with toffe and chocolate, ending on an oily note with a late bitterness. harrisoni (6798), Ashford, Kent, England
