| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 17, 2001 Updated: Oct 13, 2003The beer pours a deep brown to almost black with some ruby highlights, the head modest and somewhat creamy, the color a light tan and as it dissipates a nice clinging sheet of lace forms on the glass. The sweet aroma of toasted grain with a hint of caramel combines with the fresh crispness to make a pleasing to the senses nose, sweet malt laden start leads to a middling top. Finish is pleasantly acidic, hops are spicy but not overpowering and the semi-dry aftertaste is a pleasant ending to a quite nice middle of the road porter, and one I enjoy whenever I get a chance to get out to the “Satisfied Frog”, for a porter and a pulled pork sandwich, some real yummies for the tummy.
