mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 11, 2009 [2306-20090712] Cask. Super chocolate chip fudge aroma. Slightly hazy, light brown orange body with a medium-lasting foamy white head and some lacing. Mild toasted grains flavour. Medium body is a little bitter. Quite good.
(@ Victory Cafe Summer Fest 2009; Toronto, ON) HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Jul 13, 2009 Cask. At Victory Cafe Summer Fest 2009. Hazy copper pour, average off-white frothy head. Solid evergreen hops with a bit of citrus zest, dry and leafy. The taste followed, but a surprisingly solid roast caramel malt component, bitter, but very well balanced - not complex, but a good drinker. Average body, slightly astringent, mild carbonation, really soft on the palate - I also am kicking myself I didn’t try the mild. Appearance: amber brown with light haze , creamy off white top. Some lace on sides.3+ Nose: Slight grainy with leafy hops .sweet malt at finish. Clean pleasing nose.7- Flavor/Palate : Good frontal bold bitterness. Leafy with malt follow up. Neat bold cask ale with soothing amber malts. Straight but very clean work.
VeloVampire (483), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 12, 2009 Cask at Victory Summer Fest - poured a caramel reddish with good white head that laced nicely. Aroma and flavour full of citrusy, piney hops, and a good smooth caramel background. Clean, simple, very well-done. The second big winner I’ve had from this brewery, and I’m regretting I didn’t try the Mild. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 12, 2009 Enjoyed at the Victory cask fest, this was the clear winner of pure ratings. Contract brewed by Paul of Pepperwood. A nice head on grapefruit colour, soapy, and hops.Lots of lace. A good bitterness. DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada Jun 2, 2009 Cask @ Volo’s IPA Challenge.
Aroma has apple? pine and malt, opaque orange/amber, zero head. Taste is again apples, with some malt and caramel. Light bodied, balanced, quite tasty. A neat beer, seems like a hybrid of a pale ale and a cider.
