Sweet aroma of maple and malt, with hint of chocolate, cloudy, light brown, small custard head. Taste is chocolate, with a vanilla quality, possibly from the maple, and a woodiness too. Light bodied, balanced, sweet and drying. Good.

[710-20070928] Cask @ C’est What 2007 FOSB (Toronto, ON). A little maple sweet grain aroma has some alcohol notes. Clear, dark red brown body with a small long-lasting foamy off-white head. Some maple in the flavour is mostly nut grain brown. Medium-full body. Subtle spin on a great beer to begin with, quite refreshing.

As their brewer told me, "You can have a lot of fun with a little cask." Reddish-dark brown with amazing head and waves of lacing. Mild aromas and flavours of burnt brown sugar and hazelnut. Not overwhelming, but a bit sweet. Soft creamy palate. Very good stuff.

Cask sample at C’est What’s 2007 Fall Festival of Craft Breweries. Slightly hazy brown colour. Aroma is very nice - sweet and nutty, with notes of maple and brown sugar. Soft body. Flavour has a great balance of the maple and nut brown notes - toffee, malt, maple & hops all mingle very nicely.

Cask. Brown-auburn body with a creamy tan head and lace. Aroma is quite nice - bread, burnt sugar, and toffee. Taste has kind of a strange kind of warmth? Otherwise bready with some nutty almond in a soapy palate.

Cask. At C’est What Beer thing September 2007. Hazy burgundy pour with a lasting creamy mottled tan/beige head. Sweet toasty caramel aroma, mild maple sweetness, leafy hop aroma and a hint of cocoa. There’s even more chocolate overtones to the taste, but still mostly roast malt with soft floral hopping in the tail. Silky, semi-thick mouthfeel, slightly herbal in the finish - nice understated maple, a pretty decent cask pint.

Cask at ’C’est What? Festival of Small Breweries’. Pours a cloudy orange-mahogany with an average size diminishing tan head. Decent lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, nuts, light hops and chocolate. Flavour’s nutty and chocolaty along with caramel malt and very light hops. Average bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Enjoyable, I quite liked this.

On cask at Cest What
Appearance :Ambe4r brown with neat thick tanned crown.
Nose :Clean brown malts are shown, gentle roast with cocoa beans dipped in sweet sugars.
Flavour/Palate : Very soft body, smooth texture. Sweet chocolate like middle. Pleasant ale but following name I wished it was a bit more nutty.
