Commercial Description:
This is a darker offering from Black Oak. Rich smooth taste, slightly roasty and chocolaty. It's a bit less hopped, but still has a fantastic balance with the malt.

Bottle - thanks to HogTownHarry for sharing his six-pack. Wow, hard to believe I’ve never rated this! Pours a dark ruby-brown with a small cream-coloured head. Nice nutty/malty aroma with some hints of hops in the background. The flavour starts roasty and a bit chocolately, with some hops coming through nicely in the finish. This is a beer that I tend to take from granted - I don’t drink it as often as I should, and when I do, I really enjoy it. It’s fairly simple, but satisfying.

Bottle (341ml). Poured clear mahogany with an average fizzy-foamy offi-white head. Sweet nutty aroma of roast malt, chocolate and grain. Taste is a bit chalky, almost like a malted milkshake, some very mild hops to go with the roast malt and grain - mouthfeel is lightly creamy, a little thin, not very carbonated at all. This one has a medium-long mildly bitter finish to overlay the sweetish "malteser" taste. Farily nice, I enjoyed it.

Draught at The Victory Café. Pours a clear dark copper with an average size creamy off-white head. Really mild aroma of roasted malt with a touch of hops -- it’s hard to tell really as there’s not much aroma there. The sweet flavour is also mild and has nuts, some roasty malt, caramel and light hops. Medium bodied. It’s O.K. but I expect better from Black Oak, I was slightly dissapointed.

Draught, C’est what. Some fairly deep. solid chocalatey-bitter malts and complimentary rounded hops in the supporting role. Very solid, flavorful Brown. ** add note ** has a sticky malt note that is like burnt molasses, and good size body for a Brown - some sticky fat residual sugars (like Great Lakes Pale.) Still like this, good work Black Oak.

Clear mahogany color. Roasted nuts aroma. Dark flavor. Molasses comes to mind for some reason. Decent winter warmer.

Generous off-white head is mostly lasting over the clear chestnut hue. Straightforward leafy hops intervene amidst the chocolatey and roasted malts. Clean malty flavors, slightly fruity and indeed procuring hazelnut hints. Dry palate, hoppy. Supporting carbonation, good flavor balance. More than fair brown ale.

Good brown ale with a caramel twist. Pours a nice clear brown colour. There’s a fruity taste to it.
