Dark brown/black with foamy tan head that reduces quickly. Tasty bittersweet Porter, roasted, malty, with cinnamon. It’s almost a year later and it has mellowed nicely and with a more intense edgey taste.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 5, 2008 In short: A spicy porter. Exactly what it claims to be. Nicely put together beer although not my style.
How: Bottle 12oz (probably fresh) from HogTownHarry. Thanks Harry.
The look: Black body topped by a tan ring of foam
In long: Very roasted with a burnt toast flavour. Light watery chocolate, a little rubber, some raisins. The advertised cinnamon is very much present and when mixed in with the malt flavours it develops peppery, cloves and nutmeg flavours. Weird fruity spicy finish. Most of the time I like my beers like a like my movies, I don’t mind them being a bit spicy. But Porter are like war movies, I don’t want them to be spicy. I mean, Saving Private Ryan was much better than Shaving Ryan’s Privates.

Chalky and roasty aroma with an amount of cinnamon that perfectly compliments the beer. Lightly vegetal flavor with a sweet cinnamon finish, black malts throughout. Easy on the tongue. A great porter. It’s nice to see a brewer using an adjunct in a controlled way without overwhelming the beer. swoopjones (1907), Buffalo, New York, USA
