Dark brown beer, ruby tint, sticky tan-coloured head. Nice lace. Aroma is quite flowery and herbal with a touch of spice. A waxy flavour in here though that ruins it. Dirty, dusty flavour. Oxidized and cardboardy. I had this the same day as the Denison’s Dunkel which had some similar badness going on as well, which makes me think that there may have been something going on with the taps. Will re-rate when I get a chance.

Picked up a few bottles at the brewery. Pours almost black with a huge brown head. Big aromas of coffee and nutty, dark chocolate. Taste is coffee, roasted malt and dark chocolate. Taste really improves as the beer warms. Medium bodied and smooth. Nice malt/bittermess balance. Well done Black Oak!

Black body, topped with a foamy mocha head. Aroma is nutty, slight coffee, malt and toffee. Malt , nut and coffee taste. Finish is creamy, with a smooth mouthfeel all the way. Nice!

on tap at Cafe Volo. Dark brown/black, almost opaque, light brown thick creamy head. Sweet nutty aromas, along with malt adn slight coffee and chocolate. Taste of coffee is dominant, with nutty notes and sweetness. Very bitter on the finish. Leaves strong coffee bitterness at back of throat. Nice to sip on.

Bottle from DougShoemaker. Deepest brown color. Red ruby hues can be seen when backlit. Low on carbonation. Decent malt profile. Aroma is nutty and coffee like. I didn’t really find the cinnamon in here. Decent hop finish.

mmmm, enjoyed on tap at beer bistro. Dark black colour with foamy off white head. Aroma of spice and roasted chocolate. The flavour is delicous with chocolate and spices, cinnamon predominates, but it’s complex. Very Good.
