Mid-brown colour. Fruity nose. Malt and plenty of bitterness on the palate. Dry bitter finish. Full-bodied. A nice best bitter. Handpump, The Cherry Tree, Woodbridge, October 2003

Cask Conditioned at The Swan, Banbury. Golden with thick head. Thick light malt beer, sharp, nosey with a boiled hop overnote, a little cabbagy. Decent balance but not that special.

[on tap] Dark red amber color. Attractive, very creamy, everlasting head. Bitter malt taste, with unusual hops. Dry, bitter finish.

Orangey-yellow color, much less head than I would have thought from the commercial description, but I had it from a cask (Bookbinder’s Arms, Jericho, Oxford). Sharp tart/acidic taste, with a surprising sense of the alcohol in the flavor as well. Not bad, but not overwhelming.
